A HEATED argument led to a punch in the face for a Northside Plaza security guard on Friday.
Police media said a man was inside the shopping centre and became involved in a verbal altercation with the security guard.
He then punched the guard in the face and around the body before members of the public intervened. The man then walked down Musgrave St.
Late on Friday police were still searching for the man. The security man was treated for his injuries.
Police said the victim was expected to make a formal statement in Rockhampton on Saturday.
Shoppers who saw the dispute posted comments on Facebook on Friday.
One onlooker said they saw a young person yelling at someone on his phone, when the security guard told him to calm down.
They added he then punched the man in the face.
\”…so over the young scum in Rockhampton thinking they can hurt someone and get away with it…\” the person said.
Another user said: \”I was shopping at the time and it started in Woolies and the guy was asked to leave because he was yelling, swearing and ranting while on the phone. He was very aggressive towards staff who then got security involved.\”
The Morning Bulletin attempted to contact Northside Plaza but a spokesperson was not available for comment.
